SCDuinoTag_04_SimpleGunLCDSound.ino (in files menu) is the final Arduino code for the ScienceClub Laser Tag prototype.
There is a lot more to add to the code in the future to make the game more playable, but this is a good development cutoff point to make a set of working Laser tag guns. The prototype code includes the following features:
- Shoot – IR data bullet is based on the Miles Tag protocol and includes the shooters player and team ID, ammo type and player level.
- Receive shot – decodes player ID and team but does not use them. Other data ignored. Hit LED flashes.
- Play sounds for shooting, getting shot, ammo empty, reload and die.
- Display health and ammo on LCD screen.
Hardware for the Laser Tag guns that we have ready to build:
- Arduino Nano and screw terminal shield for prototypes
- I2C 1602 LCD dislpay
- USB powered charging module for an 18650 LiFePo cell 3.8V
- 5V boost converter povered from 18650 cell to supply power for the gun
- IR Receiver/Hit LED – PCB and 3D printed mount and acrylic dome and components
- IR transmitter LED, lens, tube, 3D printed mount, driver MOSFET and series resistor
- trigger microswitch, power slide switch
This first picture shows the USB charger linked directly to theboost converter with 2 short copper wires. In the gun, a slide switch for power on/off would be between the modules.
